Joint Industry Postgraduate Programme

 

The Singapore Economic Development Board, in partnership with local companies, offers the Joint Industry Postgraduate programme (JIP) to support full-time Science & Technology training at the University.

 

Overview

The JIP Programme will provide each successful candidate with:

 

§         A monthly stipend of S$2,500, up to a maximum of :

                           i.      24 months per Master of Engineering or Master of Science candidate;

                         ii.      48 months per Doctoral candidate;

                  or upon completion of the degree requirements, whichever     
                  is earlier;

 

§         Full-time fees (including tuition fees, registration fees, examination fees, health insurance and other academic related fees)

 

Eligibility

1.       Nationality

The candidate must be a Singapore citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident.  Non-Singaporeans or non-Permanent Residents should attain PR-ship within 2 years of completion of programme of study. Successful applicants who do not attain PR-ship within 2 years of completion of programme of study may be subject to the indemnification clauses of the sponsoring company.

 

2.   A candidate will not be considered for the JIP programme if he/she does not fulfil all criteria as specified in the paragraphs on ‘Eligibility for the JIP programme’ or if the candidate's application is incomplete or is received after the closing date. 

 

3.   Joint selection

The candidate must be admitted or will be admitted to pursue an approved full-time

§         Master of Science [all programmes except M.Sc.(Intellectual Property Management)]

§         Master of Engineering

§         Doctor of Philosophy

 

programme in the Faculty of Engineering.  Candidates’ date of registration for the approved programme must be during the period from August 2007 to January 2010.

 

Selection will be jointly selected by the sponsoring company and the University.

 

Other Conditions

1.   Bond

Upon completion of the programme, successful Master's and Ph.D candidates are required to work at the sponsoring company’s Singapore operations for 2 and 3 years respectively.

 

2.   Consent

      Candidates who are currently recipients of scholarships, fellowships or any other financial aid are to obtain approval from your existing sponsor(s) for your application for sponsorship under this JIP programme.
